Standard Lipid Panel
Also known as Total Cholesterol, LDL, HDL, Triglycerides
What it is
The Standard Lipid Panel measures total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and triglycerides, the foundational cardiovascular risk markers most people are already familiar with from an annual physical.
Why it matters
This panel has decades of outcomes research behind it and remains the starting point for assessing cardiovascular risk: LDL is the cholesterol most closely linked to plaque buildup in arteries, HDL is generally protective, and triglycerides reflect how your body is handling fat and sugar in the bloodstream. Its limitation is resolution: two people with the same LDL number can have very different actual risk depending on particle count and size, which is exactly why Zaro pairs it with ApoB in Surface and, for a deeper look, NMR particle fractionation in Signal. The standard panel is where the cardiovascular risk conversation starts, not where it has to end.
Standard Lipid Panel is one of the markers in Zaro's Surface panel and every tier above it.
