OmegaCheck
Also known as Omega-3 Index
What it is
OmegaCheck measures the percentage of EPA and DHA, the two primary omega-3 fatty acids, present in your red blood cell membranes, reported as a single Omega-3 Index.
Why it matters
Unlike a dietary questionnaire, which relies on self-reported fish and supplement intake, OmegaCheck measures what has actually been incorporated into your cells over the preceding several months. Omega-3 status has been studied in connection with cardiovascular health, and the Omega-3 Index specifically has been proposed as an independent cardiovascular risk marker in its own right. It's also one of the more directly modifiable results on a panel: intake through diet or supplementation is the primary lever, which makes retesting after a few months of a change a meaningful way to confirm it worked.
OmegaCheck is one of the markers in Zaro's Source panel and every tier above it.
