Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
Also known as CMP
What it is
The Comprehensive Metabolic Panel is a group of 14 values covering blood sugar, kidney function, electrolyte balance, and liver enzymes in a single draw: glucose, BUN, creatinine, eGFR, BUN/creatinine ratio, sodium, potassium, chloride, CO2, calcium, total protein, albumin, total bilirubin, ALP, AST, and ALT.
Why it matters
The CMP is the closest thing to a single-panel snapshot of how your major organ systems are functioning day to day. Kidney markers (creatinine, eGFR, BUN) show how efficiently your kidneys are filtering waste; electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride, CO2, calcium) reflect hydration and the balance your nerves and muscles depend on; and the liver enzymes (ALP, AST, ALT) along with total bilirubin, protein, and albumin flag whether your liver is under stress before symptoms appear. It's the foundational panel most annual physicals are built around, and it's included in every Zaro tier because so much of the rest of a panel is easier to interpret once these baselines are known.
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel is one of the markers in Zaro's Surface panel and every tier above it.
